Najib, 72, is currently serving a six-year prison sentence since August 2022 for the first set of abuse of power and money-laundering charges linked to 1MDB. On Friday, he was sentenced to another 15 years’ jail and fined US$2.8 billion.
In the region, military officials from Thailand and Cambodia began talks on Wednesday, days after the neighbours agreed to discuss the resumption of a ceasefire. This comes after 16 days of fierce border clashes that have killed at least 86 people.
